 Forest
Cliff Camp is a place that God used to change
my life.
When I was 6 years old, I went to camp with my parents.
My mom and dad were both counsellors and that year I
was put in my moms cabin. Never again will that
happen!
I attended Forest Cliff Camp for 15 years. When I was
10 years old I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour.
That week there was a Sky pilot named Gilligan and I
remember him asking everyone at Camp fire if we knew
Jesus as our personal Saviour. At that time I had not
made the commitment and I felt that it was time that
I did so, so I asked Jesus into my heart. As I look
back on the affect that Forest Cliff Camp had on my
life, I really thank God for the opportunity to be able
to go to this amazing place for so many years.
As each summer began to draw closer I was excited about
going to Camp. It was always the highlight of my year.
But the thing about camp that affected me the most was
not the hot and musty cabins but the fact that I had
amazing counsellors and people that cared about me.
As I grew older and the thought of being a counsellor
was coming in view, I could just remember watching the
counsellors and admiring their talents and their love
for God. Finally I was able to enter into the CIT(counsellor
in training) program. It was a great time to be able
to meet people and to be able to take responsibility
of the kids in the cabin along with a Senior Counsellor.
Each summer I worked my way up from CIT to Counsellor
to being able to be on Core Staff and to work for a
full summer at Camp and get paid for it! The first summer
on Core staff God really challenged me to trust in Him
as I was the program director and I had a very important
job of making sure that the kids had a great week. It
was challenging at times but it was also a very stretching
and amazing experience.
The next summer I went back to FCC to work as Program
Director again on Core Staff. This summer was a great
time to try new things and to just enjoy the kids and
the ministry that I had at Camp. I would have to say
that Forest Cliff Camp is my favourite place on earth
to be. I love the ministry, I love the kids and I love
How God works.
